Adapt your CV for a specific request by editing content, sections, and layout โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“„

Once you have created a CV in Cinode, you can update and customise it to match a specific customer, role, or request. You can edit every section in the CV, choose what to show or hide, and highlight the most relevant information โ€“ without removing anything from your profile.

Before you start

To update a CV, you first need a profile in Cinode.
If you havenโ€™t added your profile yet, start by importing your CV:

CV sections โ€“ order and behaviour

All sections below can be edited individually. You can change text, show or hide sections, and control what information is included for the current CV.

Presentation

The Presentation section introduces you to the reader.

You can:

  • Edit the text

  • Adapt the wording for the specific request

  • Show or hide the section using the toggle

This section is usually shown on the first page and should be short, clear, and sellable.

Contact information

Contains your contact details.

You can:

  • Edit the information

  • Show or hide the section

Skills by category

Skills by category lets you group skills into structured competence areas.

You can:

  • Select an existing category

  • Create your own category

  • Choose skills for each category

When selecting skills:

  • You can choose from all skills, regardless of their original category

  • Click All to see every available skill

  • Select only the skills relevant for the request

This section is used to clearly present competence areas, such as technical skills or leadership skills.

Highlighted projects โญ

Highlighted projects are shown on the first page of the CV.

You can:

  • Select which projects to highlight

  • Drag and drop to control the order

  • Show or hide the section

Important:
Descriptions in highlighted projects must be short and content-rich so they fit on the first page.

Best practice:

  • Use short, sellable summaries

  • Focus on role, scope, and results

  • Keep full assignment descriptions in Projects and assignments on page two

This section may also be called Selected projects, depending on the template.

Projects and assignments (also called Work experience)

This section contains your full work experience and all assignments connected to your profile. It provides detailed information that typically appears after the first page of the CV.

You can edit every assignment individually and control what is included in the current CV.

You can:

  • Edit assignment titles and descriptions

  • Show or hide individual assignments

  • Show or hide employers

  • Control visibility per CV without affecting your profile

All skills connected to your assignments are shown in this section.

Excluding skills from a CV

If a specific skill is not relevant for the current CV, you can exclude it without removing it from your profile.

To exclude a skill:
Click the pen icon to edit the assignment.
Select the skill.
Disable Include skill in the CV.

The skill is hidden in this CV only and remains available in your profile and other CVs.

Customising visibility

You can control what content is included in the CV without deleting any data.

You can:

  • Toggle visibility for individual assignments

  • Toggle visibility for employers

  • Exclude specific skills

This allows you to adapt the CV precisely to a specific request.

Employers

Lists your employers.

You can:

  • Show or hide the section

  • Control visibility per CV

Roles and responsibilities are described under Projects and assignments.

Courses and certifications

Contains relevant courses and certifications.

You can:

  • Edit the content

  • Show or hide the section

Education

Shows your education history.

You can:

  • Edit the information

  • Show or hide the section

Skills

The Skills section shows all skills with their levels and is typically displayed at the bottom of the CV.

Important to know:

  • This section is not related to skill categories

  • It shows individual skills and proficiency levels

You can:

  • Show all skills

  • Hide all skills

  • Exclude specific skills that are not relevant

Languages

Shows your language skills and levels.

You can:

  • Edit the information

  • Show or hide the section

Missing visibility toggle โš ๏ธ

If a visibility toggle is missing for a section or item in your CV, this is usually related to profile translations.

When more than one language is enabled in the profile, a visibility toggle is shown only if at least one entry in that section has been translated into the current CV language. The same rule applies to individual items.

Example:
You have both an English and a Swedish profile. A role description exists only in English. When viewing a Swedish CV, the visibility toggle does not appear because Cinode does not display untranslated content in another language.

How to resolve:
Go to your profile, add the missing translation, then return to the CV and update it.

Updating CV content from the profile ๐Ÿ”„

If profile content has been updated, you can compare it with the CV.

Look for the information (i) icon next to an item.
Click the pen icon, then select Show compare view.

This view shows whether updates exist in the profile or in the CV.
From here, you can choose Copy to CV, then Save or Save toโ€ฆ.

This is especially useful in Projects and assignments.

Save changes ๐Ÿ’พ

When saving, you have two options:

Save updates only the current CV.
โ€‹Save toโ€ฆ lets you choose multiple CVs and/or the profile to update.

If you only have one CV, the profile and CV update together using a single Save button.
If you have multiple CVs, you can select exactly which CVs to update.

Export and share your CV ๐Ÿ“ค

Export to PDF or Word

Go to CV โ†’ Yours.
Click the three dots next to a CV.
Select Export to PDF or Export to Word.

Note: Some templates only support PDF export.

Share a CV link

Open your CV and click Share.

You can:

  • Choose Anyone to generate a public link

  • Click + to create a trackable link

  • Add a title (for example, customer name)

  • Set an expiry date

Click Save.
A green Share icon confirms the link is active.

To deactivate the link, click Share again and switch to Company.

Character limits and formatting โš ๏ธ

To maintain clean formatting, some fields have character limits.

  • Yellow highlight: text may not fit

  • Red triangle: too much content

Affected sections include:

  • Title

  • Presentation

  • Highlighted projects

Use concise, role-specific wording and avoid unnecessary line breaks.

Copy an existing CV and version handling ๐Ÿ“„

There is no version history for CVs, and changes cannot be reverted.

As a workaround, you can duplicate a CV before making major changes.

To copy a CV:
Go to Home โ†’ CV.
Click the three dots next to the CV.
Select Copy.

Tip: Add a date or version label to the CV name to keep track of versions.

Changing templates

It is not possible to change the template of an existing CV.

To use a different template:
Create a new CV and select the desired template.
Content will be taken from your profile.

Best practices ๐Ÿ’ก

  • Create one CV per request or customer

  • Keep the first page short, clear, and sellable

  • Use Highlighted projects for summaries, not full descriptions

  • Use Skills by category to structure competence areas

  • Keep detailed assignments on later pages

  • Duplicate a CV before making major changes
