Resolve common problems when exporting or sharing your CV πŸ“„βš οΈ

When exporting a CV from Cinode, issues may appear in specific sections such as the Presentation, Highlighted projects, or Skills. These problems are usually related to content length, translations, or template limitations.

This article explains common issues per CV section, why they occur, and how to resolve them.

Before you start

CV exports are generated from your CV content and selected template.

Make sure:

  • Your CV is updated

  • The correct language is selected

  • All relevant profile content is translated

Presentation – common issues

Problem: Text is cut off or pushed to the next page

Why this happens
The Presentation section has a character limit to ensure clean layout, especially on the first page.

How to resolve

  • Shorten the text

  • Remove unnecessary line breaks

  • Focus on role, experience, and value

Indicators

  • Yellow highlight: content may not fit

  • Red triangle: too much content

Highlighted projects – common issues ⭐

Problem: Highlighted projects do not fit on the first page

Why this happens
Highlighted projects are designed for short summaries. Long descriptions can break the layout or move content to another page.

How to resolve

  • Keep descriptions short and sales-oriented

  • Focus on role, key responsibilities, and results

  • Move full descriptions to Projects and assignments

Projects and assignments – common issues

Problem: Assignments or skills are missing

Why this happens
Missing content is often caused by untranslated profile entries or excluded skills.

How to resolve

  • Ensure the assignment is translated into the CV language

  • Check that skills are not excluded from the CV

  • Update the CV after adding translations

Skills – common issues

Problem: Skills are missing or not shown

Why this happens
Skills may be excluded from the CV or hidden due to language differences.

How to resolve

  • Check that skills are included in the CV

  • Ensure skills are translated into the current CV language

  • Remember that the Skills section (with levels) is separate from Skills by category

Skills by category – common issues

Problem: Categories or skills do not appear

Why this happens

  • No translated entries exist for the CV language

  • No skills are selected in the category

How to resolve

  • Add translations in your profile

  • Select relevant skills in the category

  • Update the CV

Missing visibility toggle ⚠️

Problem: Visibility toggle is missing for a section or item

Why this happens
When multiple profile languages are enabled, visibility toggles appear only if at least one entry is translated into the current CV language.

Example
A role description exists only in English. When viewing a Swedish CV, the toggle does not appear.

How to resolve
Add the missing translation in your profile and update the CV.

Export format issues (PDF / Word)

Problem: Word export is not available

Why this happens
Some templates support PDF export only.

How to resolve

  • Export as PDF

  • Or create a new CV using a template that supports Word

Layout differences after export

Problem: Exported CV looks different from preview

Why this happens

  • Page breaks shift based on content length

  • Word handles fonts and spacing differently

How to resolve

  • Use Show preview before exporting

  • Adjust text length if content shifts

  • Use PDF for the most accurate layout

Changing templates does not solve the issue

Important to know
You cannot change the template of an existing CV.

How to resolve
Create a new CV and select the desired template.

Best practices to avoid export issues πŸ’‘

  • Keep the first page short and sellable

  • Use Highlighted projects for summaries only

  • Translate all profile content used in the CV

  • Review the CV using Show preview

  • Duplicate a CV before making major changes
