Cinode provides each employee with an internal profile where skills can be added. These skills are crucial for ensuring visibility and alignment across various Cinode functions. They help:

  • Make employees searchable within the platform

  • Populate skills reports for both employees and managers

  • Match employees with assignments during sales processes

  • Provide insight through Skill Sets reports for managers

  • Enable data exports for administrators

Managing Skills: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Add Skills to Assignments

Employees should associate relevant skills with each assignment in their profile. This involves identifying and adding:

  • Roles held (e.g., Project Manager, Java Developer)

  • Industries involved (e.g., Telecom, Retail)

  • Techniques, methods, and tools used

If a desired skill is not listed, it can be added by selecting the prompt at the bottom of the suggestions list or pressing Enter. Skills are automatically ordered by skill level.

Step 2: Define Skill Levels

After adding skills to assignments, assign a skill level to each one within the Skills block.

Step 3: Highlight Favourite Skills

Mark important or preferred skills by clicking the star icon next to each skill. This helps indicate passion and expertise, supporting better matching with roles.

Best Practices for Managers

Managers should guide employees by:

  • Requesting skills be added to all assignments

  • Clarifying which skills and categories are priorities

  • Defining standard role titles

  • Setting a minimum number of skills per assignment

Leadership should also champion the use of Cinode and ensure all supervisors are trained, supporting high-quality data and consistent use across the organisation.

System Features for Skill Management

  • Search Function: Enables all users to find specific skills and their levels.

  • Skills Report: Provides an overview of all organisational skills, accessible to all users.

  • Matching Function: Allows managers to align employee profiles with assignment requirements.

  • Skill Sets Report: Available to managers for analysing internal skill supply and supporting strategic decisions.

  • Skills Export: Admins can export skill data via Administration > Data > Competencies.

Skill Categorisation and Synonyms

Cinode categorises all added skills and links them with master synonyms where applicable. These predefined categories help standardise data across the organisation. Synonyms allow the system to treat variations of the same skill uniformly in reports and matching functions.

Skill Matching (For Business Module Users)

Effective matching relies on precise tagging of skills, roles, and industries. Inaccurate or incomplete skill entries can prevent successful matches. For best results, include all relevant skills—even if they seem implied by assignment titles or customer names.

Using Skills in Practice

Skills support core Cinode functionalities, including:

  • Skills reports

  • The Talent Business planner

  • Search tools

  • Consultant profile presentations

The skill inventory aggregates all skills, displays consultant distribution, and averages skill levels. Profiles show individual skill levels and provide detailed statistics when assignments are accurately dated and tagged.

Consultant Profile Display

Skills appear in consultant profiles, formatted according to either Cinode's standard templates or your organisation’s custom layouts.
