By creating Skill Sets in Cinode, you enable your organisation to analyse internal skills through structured reporting.

Skill Sets provide a clear overview of employeesโ€™ and subcontractorsโ€™ skills and proficiency levels, helping you ensure the right mix of competencies for assignments, customers, and business goals.

Skill Sets also support strategic decisions related to competency development, workforce planning, and recruitment.

Watch the video below to see how Skill Sets are created and structured in Cinode.

What is the purpose of Skill Sets?

The goal of Skill Sets is to establish a shared and unified skills repository within your organisation.

This makes it possible to:

  • Search and analyse skills consistently

  • Assess delivery capacity accurately

  • Maintain the same skill structure across profiles and CVs

  • Ensure skills are entered in a consistent and reliable way

A centralised Skill Set structure improves both data quality and long-term maintainability.

Who can create and manage Skill Sets? ๐Ÿ”

Creating and managing Skill Sets requires administrator access.

Administrators are responsible for:

  • Defining Skill Sets

  • Structuring categories

  • Deciding which skills belong to each Skill Set

Once created, Skill Sets can be viewed and used across the organisation, but only administrators can modify their structure.

Why use Skill Sets? ๐Ÿ’ก

Skill Sets help employees and subcontractors add relevant skills more easily to their:

  • CV

  • Profile

  • Overview

  • Growth plan

By using predefined Skill Sets, your organisation ensures that the same skills and definitions are used consistently by everyone.

Five ways to structure Skill Sets ๐Ÿงฉ

You can create multiple Skill Sets depending on your organisationโ€™s needs. Below are common and recommended approaches.

By role

Create Skill Sets that reflect roles within your organisation.

Example:
Create a Skill Set called Roles and add roles such as:

  • Fullstack Developer

  • Frontend Developer

  • Backend Developer

This makes it easy to analyse skill coverage and average proficiency per role.

By role-specific skills

Build Skill Sets around the skills required for a specific role.

Example:
Create a Fullstack Developer Skill Set with skills such as:

  • C#

  • Angular

  • T-SQL

  • Entity Framework

This helps identify missing or weak competencies for a role.

By customer

Create Skill Sets based on customer-specific requirements.

Example:
For a customer called Volso, create a Skill Set named Customer โ€“ Volso and include skills such as:

  • Project Management

  • JavaScript

  • Scrum Master

  • Swift

This supports customer-specific delivery and staffing.

For growth plans

Use Skill Sets to support long-term competency development.

Example:
Create a Growth Plan Skill Set containing skills such as:

  • UX Designer

  • UX Design

  • User Experience

  • Marketing Developer

This helps guide individual and organisational growth initiatives.

For business growth

Structure Skill Sets to align with strategic business priorities.

Example:
Create a Business Growth Skill Set with multiple categories, each containing skills linked to your growth strategy.

This ensures skill development supports overall business goals.
