In Cinode, your Profile is the foundation of all your professional information—your master data. While CVs can be tailored for different audiences or assignments, the
Profile remains your consistent, reliable source of truth. It showcases your skills, experience, and background internally to colleagues and managers, and externally to clients when generating CVs.
You can create your Profile by importing a CV to your profile or in the CV view or adding information manually, and you may also work with multiple languages. How to translate a profile or CV.
To create a CV in Cinode, you can start by importing your PDF or Word file into your or your employee's profile. The profile acts as the foundation of your information in Cinode—the "master data" for your account. While CVs can vary depending on projects, the master data will always remain in the profile and serve as the base when creating CVs.
When creating a new CV in Cinode, the information from the profile will be added to the new CV. You can then specify the CV to suit the assignment you apply for and choose what information should be visible or not by toggling sections on or off.
Prerequisites
To import a CV, the Profile must be empty or contain only skills.
CVs can be imported in one language only; additional languages must be translated manually or with Cinode AI.
Understanding Profiles and CVs in Cinode
Your Cinode Profile is your complete, internal record of professional information: experience, assignments, education, certifications, languages, and more. Only one Profile exists per user, but you can create translations.
A CV is a customised selection of information from your Profile, designed for a specific role, client, or assignment. You can create multiple CVs and choose which details to include or hide. Any new information added to a CV is automatically part of the Profile.

How to Create and Manage Profiles
Importing a CV
Start by importing your CV in PDF or Word format into your profile. This is only possible if the profile is empty.
Note: You can only import your CV in one language. For additional languages, manually translate (or use Cinode's AI tools) the information after the import. Check out this article for details.
If you have a LinkedIn profile, export your LinkedIn CV as a PDF and use it to populate your Cinode profile.

How to import your CV to your Cinode Profile or to an employee´s profile
Cinode allows you to create a Profile in seconds by importing a PDF or Word CV.
How to Import
Access your Profile or your employee
Go to Home → Profile
or
CV tabTo import for an employee, search for the person, open their profile, and select Profile.
Upload your CV
Upload a PDF or Word document.
After import, review all sections for formatting, line breaks, and date accuracy.
Import Rules
Importing is possible only when:
the Profile is empty, or
only the Skills block is pre-filled.
You may import your CV once and only in one language. Additional languages must be translated afterwards.
Recommended Preparation Before Import
Remove employer lists if they appear outside project descriptions; they may be imported incorrectly as assignments.
Avoid side columns or two-column CVs, as the importer may merge text.
Ensure role titles and dates appear in the same column, with:
Role title → Date → Company → Description.
Sections not imported include: Employees, References, Commitment, Publications.
💡 Tip
If you use LinkedIn, export your profile as a PDF and import it into Cinode.
Note: You can only use this Import function if the CV and profile in Cinode are empty or if only the skills block is filled in from before. This is regardless of language.
Tips for a Successful CV Import
Employer Details: Employers listed in your CV may appear under "Projects and Assignments." We recommend removing these details before importing to ensure better organization and avoid redundancy.
Avoid Side Columns: To prevent formatting issues, avoid including side columns (e.g., "Skills by Category" and highlighted projects from the Cinode standard template) in your CV. The import algorithm may inadvertently merge text from two columns into a single line, making the content harder to read and interpret.
Sections Not Imported: Please note that sections such as "Employees," "References," "Commitment," and "Publications" will not be imported into your profile. These sections will need to be added manually after the import process.
Projects and Assignments - Role Titles and Dates:
For improved organization and accuracy, ensure that both the role title and date for each project are listed in the same column before importing your CV. To maintain clarity in your final profile, list the title first, followed by the date, then the company, and finally the description. If the company is listed first, your project may be imported into the presentation section instead of the project section.
Note: Always review and edit the imported information to ensure accuracy and add missing details as needed.
Manual Entry and Editing
If you prefer not to import—or after importing—you can manually add or refine your Profile:
Use the pen icon to edit each block.
Click Save to update the current CV or Save To to update multiple CVs or the Profile.
Use the Table of Contents to navigate between sections quickly.
Important
Updating one language does not update other languages. You must edit each language version individually.
💡 To easily switch between sections, click on the 'Table of Contents.'
Saving Changes
When editing your Profile or a CV, you have two ways to save your updates:
Save – updates only the current CV.
Save To – lets you choose multiple CVs and/or the Profile to update at the same time.
Note:
If you only have one CV, your Profile and CV update together using a single Save button.
If you have multiple CVs, you can select exactly which CVs you want to update when saving.
Use these options to keep all your CVs and your Profile aligned and up to date.
Note: When adding new information for example in you English profile, your other profile languages will not automatically be updated. You will need to go and update the other languages manually.
Sections in the Profile
Presentation
We recommend to always write in third person.
Under the "Presentation" block, you will fill out a title and descriptive text. Remember, this section needs to appeal to clients, so aim to make it as sellable as possible. This text will later serve as the foundation when creating resumes. You can summarize both your personal and professional qualities in this block.
Describe your professional experience, what drives and motivates you, and how you can contribute to a workplace.
Neither first name or surname can be edited in the presentation block, these are linked to your Cinode account and must be edited through your account settings or the Administration page.
Note that personal presentation won’t be shown in the standard resumes unless otherwise directed by your organisation.
Open the field you want to edit by clicking on the pen icon. Edit the new information and click "Save" or "Save To". If you cannot see the save buttons, it means no changes have been made.
Project & Assignments
Add your earlier assignments and/or projects by clicking on the "+" or edit an existing assignment by opening the assignment in question. Earlier employment should be summarized as one or several assignments.
👉 Note: Projects in your profile are automatically ordered according to the project dates you provide. Ensure that the dates are accurate to maintain the correct chronological order.
After updating the dates on your assignments a page reload will show your previous assignments reordered.
Highlighted projects is only viewed in the CV and there you can choose what to highlight on the first page by drag and drop.
For every assignment, you must add a description, including tasks, responsibilities, and results. Tag a few keywords or skills related to the assignment (one at a time). A keyword can be industries, roles, tools, techniques, etc. When you start adding skills, suggestions will appear—use these. If a keyword is missing, you can add it, but be mindful of accurate spelling.
Skills
This block gathers all skills from your assignments.
Add missing skills with +.
Rate each skill from level 1–5 (definitions available via the info icon).
Mark favourites using the star icon to influence project matching.
Skills cannot be manually reordered.
Skills are displayed as added from your assignments and ratings. It is not possible to manually reorder skills.
Other Skills
Add additional qualifications, such as a driver’s license, military service, first aid, or CPR.
Skills added under the "Other Skills" section will be displayed in your CV but are not included in the skill matching process within Cinode. This means they will not influence how your profile is matched against requirements or project role opportunities. Use this section for qualifications or attributes that support your professional profile but do not directly impact search or matching algorithms.
References
Keep references organized in one place.
Please note, this section will not be displayed in your CV.
Courses and Certifications
List relevant educational courses and certifications
Employers
Roles within employment are registered as assignments under "Projects and Assignments." Just list your former employers here.
Education
Add your education.
Languages

Update the CV only or apply the changes across selected CVs and the Profile
Translating Profiles and CVs
You can create multiple language versions of your profile. Add a new language by clicking the "+" next to "Translations." While translations must be added manually after the initial import, you can use Cinode’s AI tools to assist with translations and text enhancements.
If you switch to a language where you have not added a translation, you will see the warning shown below. The content needs to be translated into the chosen profile language.
When translating a skill in the profile, you can use synonyms to find a translation.👇🏼
Removing a Profile or CV
Use the three dots menu to remove a Profile translation or delete a CV.
You may delete an imported Profile and re-import if necessary.
🚨 Important: When you remove your profile, all data will be deleted.
To keep your information accurate, make sure to regularly review and edit each section.
Profile vs CV in Cinode - what's the difference
A Cinode Profile is a comprehensive record of a user's (Employee, Subcontractor, or Candidate) work experience, education, certifications, and more. The profile is created by the user or a colleague with sufficient access. It serves as an internal database accessible only to company employees. You can have only one Profile but can create multiple language versions (e.g., English and Spanish).
The data entered in the profile can be searched in the general search and skills searches throughout the app. New data entered in a CV is by definition part of the user's profile.
A CV is a customized selection of relevant data from the Profile, presented in a template chosen by your company. We recommend creating multiple resumes tailored to specific audiences and job contexts. For example, you can have one resume for "Project Manager at IT Company X" and another for "Test Lead at Retail Company Y." Each resume can highlight relevant assignments, training, and skills. Additionally, you can adapt the language and terminology in each resume to suit the target audience.
