The profile in Cinode is the internal skills account for all employees. An employee or a manager can add skills to the employee's profile.

The skills in Cinode are important and will make every employee;

  • searchable in Cinode for employees and managers

  • visible in a skills report for employees and managers

  • matched for assignments in sales purposes for managers

  • visible in a Skill sets report for all managers

  • visible in an export file for administrators

You can scroll down to read about searching, using skills reports, matching for roles, using skill sets, tagging skills and exporting.

Skills are the keywords of your assignments in the profile and all employees will tag skills under each description of the assignments.

To make it easier for the employees to work with their skills the manager can

  • instruct all employees to add skills to all their assignments,

  • inform the employees what skills to tag and what categories the manager considers important. Essential categories may differ depending on what industry you are working in.

  • define roles so that the employees can use the same notion of roles.

  • decide a minimum number of how many skills should be added to an assignment.

When working with skills in Cinode you have 3 important steps;

  1. Add the skills under each assignment

  2. Select the level of the skills in the skills block

  3. Favourite mark your skills

An extra and important step is to add a Dream assignment to your overview in Cinode. The dream assignment will also be shown when matching for roles in sales purposes. In this way, the employees will have a bigger opportunity to work with what they really want.

How to work with skills

Step 1. Add Skills

When adding skills a recommended way is to think of categories and tags for example;

  • Roles they had in the assignments, for example, Project Manager or Java Developer

  • The industry they worked with, for example, Telecom or Retail

  • Techniques used

  • Methods and Processes you used,

  • Tools you used etc.

Skills in the profile are automatically ordered by skill level by default. Skills cannot be manually reordered.

Step 2. Select levels for your skills. Once you have added the skills under the assignments they will be listed in the Skills block.

Step 3. Favourite mark your skills by clicking on the star next to the skills.

In this way, you will show your passion for what skill you are interested in. This will also be shown when matching roles for your managers.

Employees can and should use the help of their supervisors when reading through their profiles to ensure that the quality of the content is up to standards, based on the competencies/categories the organization has defined as relevant. When working together the estimation of the consultant's own skill level can be verified.

Change comes from the top so get your leaders on board. Without their help, push and support it will be a great challenge to get relevant data into the system. Supervisors should make sure to get educated in the system to better be able to help their employees.

Cinode’s skill categories

Cinode categorizes skills. When you have added a skill to your assignments, it is categorized and linked together with a master synonym if there is one. The categories available in Cinode are standard and can not be changed.

Searching function

The search function is visible to all employees and managers. If an employee for example is working on an assignment and they are looking for a specific skill then the employee can search to see if someone in the same organization has this skill and also what level

Skills report

The Skill report is visible to all employees and managers. With the skills report, you can view a report of all the skills of your organisation.

Matching function

The matching function is for the manager in sales purposes.

Skill sets report

The Skill sets report is visible to all managers. With the Skill sets report, you can analyze the internal skill supply and get a clear overview of the skill levels of your employees and subcontractors.

With this data, you can check that you have the right combination of skills based on your assignments, customers, and needs. Further, you can make the right strategic decisions regarding competence-enhancing, as well as recruitment, initiatives.

Skills Exports

Exports can be visible by a person with the "Admin" rights and they always have the opportunity to export a list of all tagged skills in the system via Administration –> Data > Competencies under the profile section.

How are skill tags used in Cinode?

Skill tagging in Cinode is the most fundamental work happening in the organization. This makes the foundation for all other functionality in Cinode and at length produces documentation of the cumulative skill capital your firm possesses. Skill tags are used in many parts of Cinode:

  • Skill report

  • The planner in Talent Business

  • Search functions

  • Consultant profile

Skills Report

All skill tags are stored in a skill inventory report that gives an overview of how many consultants have been tagged with each skill and the total skill level in the organization. The list can be filtered for predefined categories available in Cinode, Resource (Employees and Sub-contractors) and Team. If this list is all too sprawling and there are no clear instructions on how the consultant is to tag their skill, your organization may end up with a cluttering list filled with irrelevant skills.

Click on a skill while in the skill inventory report and you will enter a detailed page of that skill. Here you will be shown who has tagged the skill and what synonyms are accounted for in the skill.

Synonyms mean that if any synonym for the skill has been tagged in the profile, it counts as the same skill as the skill inventory report shows. The same applies to skill matching. However, the skill that has been tagged in the consultant profile will be shown no matter what synonym the skill belongs to. Therefore, it is recommended to have a distinct language set for skill tagging, and sticking to it as much as possible

Skill levels are also of importance, as the system calculates an average level while simultaneously showcasing the individual level of each consultant. This information is very effective when it comes to purchases and provides the ability to easily answer request specifications.

Match skills with requirements
This only concerns anyone using our Business module

Skill tags are the foundation of matching skill with a role in an assignment as skill requirements are made via skill tags.

For relevant consultants to be matched with relevant assignments it is required of the consultant to tag their skill, meaning the same skill defined in the role. If the skill required for a role that the consultant has to be experienced as a Project leader it is not enough for the consultant to tag Project leading in their profile. The system won’t match the consultant and the assignment in this example. The same applies to industries. If the industry is not matched in the consultant’s profile the system can not find a match. For this reason, it may be important to tag more skills in an assignment than what initially feels necessary. In an assignment, the title and customer are stated which makes tagging role and industry excessive. However, that data is needed to provide good statistics and to match the right skill set.

Search for skills

  • Go to search

  • Search for skills

  • Search for skills level

Skill tags are also used to search among skills, and combinations of skills, without matching a consultant profile with an assignment. To search for the perfect combination of skills for an assignment.

By tagging the same skill in different assignments the system is given data to calculate experience length with the help of start and end dates in the assignment. In our Text search, you can receive this information. Estimations are made on a six-month basis. To trust the statistics, knowledge of when an assignment was initiated and finished, and what skills were tagged, is needed.

Consultant Profiles

Lastly, skill tags are shown in consultant profiles, where the visualization may differ depending on how the templates have been developed. Either one of Cinode’s standard templates or a custom one.
