What is a tag?
A tag is a word or a short phrase to aid the user when searching for relevant data. You can add tags to a variety of entities in Cinode as presented below.
Tags should not be confused with skills, for more information on skills please click here.
Tags are not shared among customers, like the skills cloud is, but are instead company specific.
By using tags you can filter out what you wish to view, which is accomplished in the different views containing the tag filter as well as the tag search.
Where can I use tags?
You can currently tag:
- Customer contacts
- Partner companies
What are the common use cases for tags?
For customers* common use cases are:
- Rating of the customer (e.g. as VIC, Very Important Customer)
- Industry/market in which they operate (e.g. as Retail, Construction, IT)
- Relationship with the customer (e.g. Partner, Vendor, Supplier)
- Status of the customer (e.g. Churned, Current, Prospect)
- Geographical location of customer (e.g. Stockholm, London, Multinational)
- Size of company (e.g SMB, Enterprise)
* Please note that the customer list can be used for all sorts of companies not just customers.
For customer contacts common use cases are:
- Your rating of the contact (e.g VIP, Stakeholder, Superuser)
- Campaigns (e.g. E-mail Campaign mm/dd/yy)
For projects common use cases are:
- Type of lead (if the project is related to a prospect of yours) e.g. SQL, MQL
- Industry/market (e.g. as Retail, Construction, IT)
- Geographical location of where the project takes place (e.g. Stockholm, London, Global)
For partner companies common use cases are:
- Geographical location of the partner company (e.g. Stockholm, London)
- Industry/market in which the partner company specializes in (e.g. as Retail, Construction, IT)
For subcontractors common use cases are:
- Geographical location of the subcontractor (e.g. Stockholm, London)
- Industry/market which the subcontractor is familiar with (e.g. as Retail, Construction, IT)
- Experience of the subcontractor (e.g. Senior, Junior)
Use cases and the specific tags that you use will most likely vary depending on your company's niche, market segment and terminology.
It will also vary depending on which entity (customers, subcontractors etc) that you are tagging since some tags are relevant for one entity, but not for another.
For employees common use cases are:
- Defining a section/constellation of employees that the person belongs to in the organization
General advice when using tags
Tags are used to filter out specific data that you are interested in viewing. To make your filter search as comprehensive as possible, the first step should be to define a set of rules on which tags your organisation should use. For instance - should we call our most important customers "VIC", "Very Important Company" or "A-Customers"? If we chose to use a plethora of tag words for the same definition, it will make it more difficult to filter what we are searching for.
When you are creating tags, you should avoid bundling several tags words into one big sentence. Instead, enter each tag or tag phrase separately, as in the example below.
